 Contract Work for an Employee.
 FMPLUS ' contractors share their views on what for them are the advantages of working on contract.

Under the present market conditions, employers can be hesitant about employing permanent staff; however they may still need good staff to manage and deliver projects or complete client orders or carry out all kinds of necessary work for which they are not sufficiently staffed.

FMPLUS contacted several of their contractors for their views on what for them are the advantages of working on contract. The two main attractions appear to be;

Money - Contractors generally earn more than their permanent counterparts. Granted they don’t get holiday pay or sick leave however this is more than compensated for by their hourly rate. Plus they get paid for all the hours they work, where a permanent staffer on a salary would not get paid for the overtime they are generally expected to do.

Flexibility - Contracting offers the opportunity to gain experience in companies where you can either gain a possible permanent role in that company in the future, or to simply be paid to gain experience while you search for that perfect opportunity. A contract can be as short as a week or as long as a year or more. Also a lot of companies will let you choose your own hours, depending on the industry you are working in.
